This summary of the story for all of the main Mortal Kombat games in the series will get you ready for the next new game from NetherRealm. MK3 3

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection has a secret mini-game for FGC nerds

As Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection’s release date grows near, we keep learning about new features and how to unlock them.

The Legacy Kollection from Digital Eclipse is meant to pay homage to the early days of Mortal Kombat, back when it was first available to play at home. It has Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and even the unreleased WaveNet version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Then there’s Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the Trilogy…

On top of that, the Kollection includes a lot of footage from t he NetherRealm archives, including interviews and unreleased content. They are also including every cheat and hidden feature and how to unlock them. There are no secrets here.

How to unlock Galaxian in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

So this is a pretty cool inclusion in the Kollection that some hardcore fans may not even have knwon about beforehand.

In 1979, Bandai Namco created an arcade game called Galaxian. It was distributed by Midway Games, the developers of the early Mortal Kombat games. This led to Galaxian becoming a hidden mini-game within Mortal Kombat 3, but only on the Sega Genesis version.

On X earlier this month, Digital Eclipse confirmed that the mini-game would be included when a fan asked. NERD! But anyway, devs also confirmed exactly how to unlock it in the Legacy Kollection.

When the game was unlocked, you’d see a special, hidden message: “You have been transported to another realm. A realm where neither the Earth Warriors nor Shao Kahn have any control. Beware the realm of Rellim Ohcanep.”

This message had even more secrets (of course). Rellim Ohcanep is actually Penacho Miller spelled backwards, a reference to development team members.

Back in the day, you had to play over 100 two-player matches in a row. This was a bit of a strenous activity but gamers are willing to do a lot of stuff for bonus features, clearly. However, most Mortal Kombat OGs are pretty busy with jobs and taxes these days, so Digital Eclipse has ensured that you can bypass the 100 matches requirement.

“We have added a toggle to let you skip straight to it instead of having to fight 100 matches in a row,” Digital Eclipse ensured the fan. “It is also a node in the fourth timeline so eple can discover it if they didn’t know.”

So there you ahve it: you can grind 100 matches in a row or just unlock Galaxian instantly. That’s the beauty of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, which is coming out digitally on October 30th (and physical copies December 12th).
