The next Super Smash Bros. is probably being worked on right now

The Super Smash Bros. community loves to read heavily into everything Masahiro Sakurai says and the recent Kirby Air Riders presentation was no different. They believe there were plenty of hints in that Direct that the next Smash game is coming.

While most Kirby fans were going nuts over the story mode and its potential bosses, the Smash community honed in on one particular statement: Kirby Air Rider will have no DLC. This sounds mundane, but some Smash players believe this is a massive hint at what’s to come.

Without any DLC to work on, that means Sakurai is now going to start working on Smash!

And no, nobody confirmed this.

When are we getting the next Super Smash Bros. for the Switch 2?

In the past, Sakurai has stated that he only works on one game at a time. After the completion of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and all of its DLC, Sakurai turned his attention to Kirby Air Riders. This put a halt to the Smash series, but Kirby Air Riders is coming out November 20th and will have no DLC.

THAT CAN ONLY MEAN ONE THING!

No, not retirement. No, not Kid Icarus. There’s only one possibility in the minds of Smash fans: SUPER SMASH BROS. 6!

So, if we assume that Sakurai is now going to focus on the next Smash, when can we expect it to release? Well, Ultimate took about three years to make, so maybe 2028.

Sakurai, don’t even think about resting. There’s a deadline to meet!

It’s actually not super far-fetched to believe that another Smash is coming. In past interviews, Sakurai has admitted that Nintendo wants another Smash (of course they do) and he doesn’t want the project to go on without him. However, Sakurai isn’t totally sure what the next Smash game would look like.

I can help: Captain Toad as a fighter.

Either way, the Kirby Air Rider had some useful information after all.
