Of course, as long as your TV is also compatible.

The Escapist recaps

  • There are more than 160 games that are PS5 Pro-enhanced.
  • PSSR is an AI-powered upscaling technology that developers can support in their games.
  • The PS5 can play all PS5 and PS4 titles, but not PS3, PS2, or PS1.
  • Sony’s PS5 Pro is $699, or $200 more than the MSRP of the PS5.

Full list of PS5 Pro-enhanced games

Here is a full A-Z of the available PSSR games. There are 160+ titles available, and there’s plenty to choose from across a range of genres. Many titles are likely discounted now on the PS Store after being out for quite some time.

Baldur’s Gate 3

Critically acclaimed and narratively blessed, this game brings the world of Dungeons and Dragons to life in a fan-favorite. A title where class abilities, incredible power, fellowship, and player choices all weave together for a journey into the Forgotten Realms you’re likely to rave to your friend about.

God of War Ragnarök

The ninth God of War title, and perhaps the best, with a casual Metacritic score of 94. Kratos and his son Atreus work to prevent the coming of the titular Norse cataclysm in a sequel to the 2018 release, God of War. Expect fantastical environments, god-like warfare, and plenty of action and adventuring.

Resident Evil 4

In this faster-paced and action-focused Resident Evil remake, you’ll play as Leon S. Kennedy, looking to save the president’s daughter from a Spanish cult, which would be easier if mind-altering parasites and monstrous Resident Evil enemies didn’t make that a fair bit harder. Can you save Ashley? Can you save yourself?

The Last of Us Part II Remastered

It goes without saying we’d recommend getting through The Last of Us Part 1 first, but TLOU Part 2 is a truly spectacular game – and it’s worth getting the Remastered version too. Experience Abby and Ellie’s story, and prepare to see an older face in Joel. Five years have passed, and things aren’t quite as quiet as may have been wished, with closure being the plot key.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Part of a reimagined FFVII world, Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, and delivers a beautifully recreated world where Cloud Strife and friends need to prevent the evil Shinra megacorporation from draining the world of Mako, and to stop top-tier bad guy Sephiroth from seeking his personal twisted goals.

How are games better on PS5 Pro?

Ever since the upgraded console was released, the PS5 Pro’s specs have made it a superior system. This is essentially due to two factors: a more powerful GPU and the availability of PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling). For the GPU, although the specifics aren’t clear, the PS5’s solution can deliver 10.28 Tera Flops of power, compared to the Pro’s higher 16.7.

This GPU performance gap enables quicker frame rendering and a huge boost to ray tracing for lighting effects in games. Also, the AI-powered PSSR upscaling solution allows the PS5 Pro to deliver more detail (assuming a title supports ‘PS5 Pro enhanced’ capabilities). Additionally, the Pro also has a larger, 2TB drive, WiFi 7 instead of WiFi 6, and is ever so slightly lighter.

Is a PS5 Pro worth it?

The recommended PS5 Pro price is $200 more than that of the PS5 ($699), so unless you demand the very best, it may not make economic sense to get the Pro. Similarly, to engage in a ‘PS5 Pro upgrade’ if you already have a PS5 feels like it’s a path only for a niche audience.

Nonetheless, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling isn’t available on the regular PS5, and the Pro packs in further upgraded tech as we’ve mentioned above. So it’s very much a case of what you need or want from a PS5.

If you did move to the Pro, though, there’s no PS5 Pro controller, as it’s the regular DualSense used with the PS5. Additionally, there’s no PS5 Pro disc drive built into the newer model, either, so there’s no advantage there.

Ask The Escapist

Countless. The PS5 Pro can play all the games available for the PS5. In terms of PS5 Pro-enhanced games that can be enhanced on the Pro, over 160 titles are available.

What is PSSR on PS5 Pro?

PSSR or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling is an AI-powered upscaling technology that game developers can support in their games. When supported and enabled, the PS5 can enhance the visual appearance of games by adding detail and filling in ‘missing’ information using the technology.

Which games support PSSR?

Any title with the PS5 Pro-enhanced badge will support PSSR.

Do all PS5 games support 120Hz?

No, only specific games support a 120Hz resolution on PS5. This should be specified in the details and features of those that do.

Can the PS5 Pro play all PlayStation games?

No, the PS5 Pro can play any PS4 and PS5 games, but it does not offer backward compatibility for the PS3, PS2, or PS1.

How much is the PS5 Pro?

The PS5 Pro has an MSRP of $699, which is $200 more expensive than the PS5.

When did the PS5 Pro come out?
