The Upside Down is coming to Fortnite, or should that read coming back to Fortnite. A previous Stranger Things x Fortnite collaboration was released way back in Chapter 1, offering players the chance to play as either Hopper, the Demogorgon, or Eleven (though Eleven was added later on). Now, a fresh batch of Stranger Things Fortnite characters is on the way.

With Stranger Things season 5 almost upon us, five new skins are rumoured; these consist of Dustin, Lucas, Mike, Will, and last but not least, Vecna. The new update will be released on 21 November, just a handful of days before the first episodes of the final season begin airing. Here’s what The Escapist knows about the Stranger Things Fortnite 2025 update.

The Escapist recaps

  • The latest Stranger Things Fortnite collaboration will introduce five new fan-favourite characters to the game, including Vecna.
  • Dataminers had originally believed the crossover would launch on November 24, but Epic Games has since revealed that the event will begin on November 21.
  • As well as new skins to purchase from the Fortnite item shop, a new map is said to be coming to Blitz, as shared on Fortnite’s X account.
  • Stranger ThingsFortnite collaboration is among the various confirmed 2025 updates leading up to the explosive Fortnite Zero Hour live event.

Stranger Things Fortnite’s release date is 21 November. As mentioned earlier, leakers originally believed that the update would launch on the 24th; however, Fortnite’s latest announcement has put that rumour to bed.

Consequently, the Stranger Things Fortnite 2025 collab will drop five days before the new season of the hit Netflix show airs its first batch of episodes.

As every Fortnite fan knows, the game is free to play, and thus, this update costs nothing to install. That being said, the Stranger Things Fortnite skins will cost you V-Bucks.

No specific price for these new additions has been revealed yet; however, industry speculation suggests that they could cost between 1,200 and 1,500 V-Bucks. The cost will likely be determined by the popularity of the characters; for example, Eleven and Hopper’s skins cost 1,500, but the Demogorgon only costs 1,200. Furthermore, any Stranger Things Fortnite bundles will have a steeper price tag, with predictions setting the threshold at 2,500 V-Bucks.

Despite only the new skins being shown in the teaser on social media, several new cosmetics and accessories will likely become available in the Fortnite item shop. Rumours also suggest that Vecna will be part of his own themed bundle, which will include a Back Sling, Lego Set, and Emote with unique effects.

Stranger Things Fortnite trailer & gameplay analysis

The Stranger Things Fortnite crossover details are still relatively limited, at least in any official capacity. In the new YouTube shorts teaser, we see Vecna’s iconic clock menacingly ticking away in the background while each of the new Fortnite skins looks aptly worried about what’s happening. The tagline reads, “Time is almost up.”

By using both the teaser and leaks in tandem, fans can posit that Vecna and his clock will play an important role during this update. Vecna’s rumoured Emote is said to include his clock, with it said to spawn behind your character.

Although Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Vecna have long been requested by the Fortnite fandom, the reception to the Stranger Things Fortnite teaser shows that some fans are still disappointed. One of the most common questions is where Steve, Max, and Nancy are. At the time of writing this, no details, whether from leaks or official sources, show these characters being added. However, this isn’t to say they won’t eventually be added at a later date; initially, only Hopper and the Demogorgon were available, with the Eleven skin not added until 2023.

Partnered with the introduction of new Stranger Things Fortnite skins, a new Blitz, aka Blitz Royale, map will be introduced, showcasing Epic Games’ unique take on the Upside Down. For those not familiar with Blitz Royale, it’s a spin-off of the Zero Build mode, only with a decreased player count and a smaller map. It was first introduced in Fortnite Chapter 6.
