Hitman 3 IO interactive

IO Interactive formally revealed Hitman 3 during Sony’s PlayStation 5 event today. It will conclude the World of Assassination trilogy, promising a dark game with some surprises.

As with its predecessors, Hitman 3 will be a globe-trotting adventure. This time, Agent 47 is hunting down the partners of Providence, a shadowy group of moguls whose wealth and resources allow them to control the world. Six new locations will be included in game, with Dubai being the first to be unveiled.

However, the team has confirmed that the game will act as a platform for the entire trilogy, enabling players to import the content they already own from the previous two entries, meaning more than 20 locations will be available in total. How this will work for the next-generation releases is unclear at the present time.

Speaking on the tone and direction of the title, Game Director Mattias Engström said, “Hitman 3 has a much darker tone than the previous games in the trilogy. On top of the core Hitman experience, we are mixing in some surprise elements, an evocative atmosphere and a very real sense of closure.”

The game will be self-published by IO Interactive, moving away from the partnership with Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment for Hitman 2.

Hitman 3 is currently slated to launch in January 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
