Your ultimate guide to Vi in 2XKO: moveset, combos, counters, and more

Every fighting game needs its dedicated punching character, such as Little Mac in Super Smash Bros. or Balrog in Street Fighter. Depending on the game, they can be overwhelmingly powerful or fall short because they cannot throw a kick.

In 2XKO, the dedicated knuckle-thrower is Vi, who is empowered by a massive pair of metal gauntlets. But how does a pure puncher hold up in a game full of wizards, knights, and more crucially, people with guns?

The Escapist recaps

  • Vi is a Champion from League of Legends, who is now a fighter in 2XKO.
  • Vi isn’t unlocked from the start – you need to use Champion Tokens. These are either earned through gameplay or purchased with cash.
  • Vi is a brawler who specializes in speed, mobility, and strength.
  • Much like Little Mac, Vi has terrible attack range and is dreadful in the air.

Vi’s complete moveset in 2XKO

Vi lacks the unique attributes of some of the 2XKO cast, such as Warwick’s Bloodlust or Teemo’s badges. Her primary focus is on throwing punches, dodging/countering enemy attacks, and closing the distance. This makes Vi a straightforward Champion to pick up and play, especially for established fighting game fans.

Specials

  • Vault Breaker – (Hold S1 and release on either ground or air) – Vi flies across the screen for a punch. It can be used on the ground or in the air and can be charged for extra damage.
  • Crater Maker (Down + S2) – Vi strikes the ground, causing a column of energy that can knock enemies into the air.
  • Crater Maker Air (S2 in the air) – Vi strikes downwards, causing a column of energy that can knock enemies into the air.
  • Denting Blows – (S2) – Throws multiple blows. It can be repeatedly pressed for more punches.
  • Blast Shield (Down + S1) – Vi creates a shield of energy. If the enemy hits her with a physical attack, they’re paralysed, and Vi rushes forward for a counter. Vi’s attack will put her on the opponent’s opposite side.
  • Footwork (Forward + S1 or Backward S1) – Vi dashes forward or backward, allowing her to pass through projectiles. This can be followed up with another S1 special:
    • Hook (Hold L after using Footwork) – Throws a punch after coming out of the animation.
    • Slide – (Foward + S1 after Footwork) – Slides forward through projectiles and the opponent.
    • Knuckle Down (H after Footwork) – Vi jumps in the air and throws a punch that can knock enemies to the ground.
    • Upper (M after Footwork) – Vi throws an uppercut that knocks enemies into the air. Can be chained into Knuckle Down.
    • One Girl Wrecking Crew (M + H after Footwork) – Vi’s throw, where she spins the enemy around, like a record baby, and chucks them across the screen.

Unique Moves

  • The Vander Triple (L + L) – Vi performs a standard three-punch boxing combo.
  • Flying Knee (H + H) – Vi punches the enemy and then follows up with a knee attack.
  • Gut Buster (M + M) – Vi punches the enemy and follows up with a second attack that grabs the enemy and throws them to their other side.
  • Axe-Handle Crash (Forward + H) – Vi leaps forward and brings down both her hands into a Captain Kirk double-fisted slam. This breaks through low blocks.

Supers

  • Relentless Force (S1 + L/M/H) (1 Bar) – Vi rushes forward in the direction she’s facing and strikes the enemy with a savage punch.
  • Hyper Crater Maker (S2 + L/M/H) (1 Bar) – Vi strikes the ground at her feet six times, creating pillars of energy on either side. This has a short range, but if it hits the enemy, they can be chained into further hits.

Ultimate

The Ultimate costs 3 bars of meter.

  • Cease & Desist – (S1 + S2) A powerful uppercut that will be familiar to Street Fighter fans. It has little start-up, a short range, but deals a ton of damage.

Assists

  • Vault Breaker Assist – (T) – Vi flies across the screen and strikes the enemy with a punch.
  • Crater Maker Assist – (T + Back) – Vi appears and strikes the ground with energy, potentially knocking them into the air.
  • Fastball Assist – (T + Down) – Vi appears, kicks up a chunk of debris, and punches it towards the enemy. This assist has a slow startup, but covers a lot of distance.

Vi’s shortcomings lie in her air and range, but her ground game is incredible. This means she combos well with a few different characters, as other Champions can complement her style with ease.

The best options for Vi are Jinx and Warwick. Jinx’s impressive range and trapping ability make her the perfect opposite character, one who you can switch to when you need to back off from the enemy and start firing. Warwick, meanwhile, combos exceptionally well with Vi’s rushdown and aggressive style, especially with Fuses that encourage switching.

As 2XKO is a live service game that’s still being tuned, Vi’s capabilities will be tuned over time. That being said, there are some Champions who work best against her.

Jinx/Teemo – These ranged Champions excel at fighting from a distance and using traps to slow down/damage the enemy. The fact that Vi’s aerial game is rough means that she can struggle to get close to ranged Champions.

Braum – Braum’s armor and countering ability are unparalleled, making him ideal for shutting Vi down at the start of her combos, and allowing Assists to pile on damage.

When does 2XKO leave early access?

2XKO launches for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on January 20, 2026.

How much does 2XKO cost to buy?

2XKO is free-to-play. However, many Champions are locked behind Champion tokens, which can take a long time to earn. Some cosmetics can only be unlocked via premium purchases.

How many League of Legends characters are in 2XKO?

2XKO will have twelve characters at launch, with more being added with each Season. The final roster will depend on whether the game is successful.

What differentiates 2XKO from other fighting games?

2XKO is surprisingly technical, especially for a free-to-play fighting game. It’s a 2v2 fighter where players can switch out their characters for lengthy chains or swift interrupts. There’s definitely a skill ceiling involved with certain Champions, and there’s a ton of practise before you should jump online and face others.
