The Cygnus Wall is a 10 light-year long ridge within The North America Nebula. The dark shapes are clouds of cool gas and dust, while the bright highlights are atoms being energized by the radiation of young, massive stars.
The Crab Nebula is the remains of a bright supernova seen by Chinese astronomers in 1054. A pulsar at the heart of the nebula, measuring 28-30 km in width, emits pulses of radiation while spinning 30.2 times per second.
