Yes, ANANTA will be a free-to-play title, as per the game’s official marketing and website. It’s also been confirmed by Famitsu that there’ll be no character gacha pulls, setting it apart from games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero

Based on the style of game, it seems likely that there’ll be other forms of monetization – potentially a cosmetics store or gacha system for other items. This is currently speculation, though, so we’ll update with confirmation as soon as possible.

Confirmed ANANTA platforms

According to the official site, ANANTA will be available on PlayStation 5, iOS, Android, and PC. The platform list on the site finishes with “and more…”, but no further comment has been made on what the additional platforms will be.

ANANTA gameplay and trailer analysis

The initial ANANTA trailer reveal took place on August 24, 2023, when the game was still being referred to as Project Mugen.

This trailer gave fans a glimpse of what ANANTA gameplay might be like, featuring a blend of fast-paced combat, high-speed driving, and city-wide exploration. It also highlighted the sheer scale of the game world.

The newest ANANTA trailer gives fans a lot more to work with, though, revealed on September 23, 2025. This longer trailer provides more details about the game’s core characters and explores more of the city.

The variety of activities displayed in the trailer is huge; characters can be seen going to concerts, taking selfies, wingsuit diving, and working out at the gym. ANANTA’s world appears to be deeply interactive.

Combat is also shown off in this trailer, both with melee and ranged options. The combat looks punchy and responsive, and it seems like it’ll be a core focus of the game.

Will ANANTA have gacha mechanics?

As confirmed by Famitsu, ANANTA will not have character-centric gacha pulls, meaning it’ll be possible to unlock characters by playing the game. This will come as a relief for open-world RPG fans who aren’t keen on gacha mechanics in their games.

This doesn’t mean that ANANTA will necessarily be gacha-free, though. While this is speculation, it’s possible that gacha pulls might exist for another element, like cosmetics in the style of Infinity Nikki, for example.

ANANTA has many gamers intrigued already, based on the hype surrounding it online, despite the information about the title being somewhat limited. The vibrant art style, seemingly vast world, and promising combat all make this an important title to watch, no matter if you’re a fan of solo RPGs or multiplayer sandboxes.

When is the ANANTA release date?

An ANANTA release date has not been confirmed yet at the time of writing; information is limited about when fans can expect to see the game. We’re speculating it may be late 2026 or early 2027, but this is not official.

Is ANANTA the same as Project Mugen?

Yes, ANANTA is the same thing as Project Mugen. The latter name was simply a code name or project title for ANANTA.

Will ANANTA be on Xbox?

No official comment has been made about ANANTA coming to Xbox – but there is a small note on the game’s site saying that further platforms will be added alongside PS5, PC, and mobile, so it’s not impossible.
