The Escapist recaps
- Slumber Islands add creative mode to New Horizons.
- Island Specialties are part of the new content with Kapp’n and introduce bulk crafting.
- The Resort Hotel is a new end-game addition with fresh quests and challenges.
- Resetti’s Reset Services make it easier than ever to remove areas on your island.
- New Amiibo compatibility adds new cosmetics and Villagers to the island.
Kapp’n’s Resort Hotel
The Resort Hotel is a late-game addition that adds a hotel to the docks of your island in New Horizons after the 3.0 update. The hotel is run by Kapp’n’s family, who will task players with decorating the rooms for different guests. This is very similar to Happy Home Paradise, but in a more compact package.
The introduction of the hotel also includes tourists who players can interact with around the island’s beaches. Players can design outfits for hotel guests to wear, and new guests can be pulled over using Amiibos.
Island Specialties
As part of the Resort Hotel’s content in New Horizons, Kapp’n has opened a special request board for players to visit and fill. This board focuses on building island goods that Kapp’n will use to promote the Resort Hotel to potential guests. Alongside this board, bulk crafting has been introduced. This is a heavily requested feature by fans, and will be usable at any workbench on the island.
By completing requests on the board, you will earn Hotel Tickets, which can be used to purchase special items from the Hotel shop. This includes cosmetics for your characters and new furniture for decorating.
Slumber Islands
Players longing for more space to create, but who don’t want to knock down their current island setups or start a new save, are in for a treat with the debut of Slumber Islands in New Horizons. Those who have the Online Membership will be able to enter Slumber Island, where they can select a new island that is completely blank.
This space can be terraformed alone or with friends, using any materials and decorations that you have unlocked in your base game. This is the ultimate creative experience and offers freedom to those who love building with the enormous selection of decorations, furniture, and items that are included in New Horizons.
Resetti’s Reset Service
Alongside the Slumber Island expansion, players will also gain access to Resetti’s Reset Services in New Horizons. This feature allows you to hire Resetti to clear areas around your island of decorations, flowers, and debris. This allows players to easily reset areas they want to rebuild or transform. This comes at the same time as the new storage expansion that offers a new 9,000-item cap, ensuring players can use and store all their items however they like. The new storage system also includes the ability to store any trees, flowers, or shrubs that are picked up while clearing an area.
Amiibo Collaborations with The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon
In addition to the above content, players can also use their Legend of Zelda and Splatoon Amiibos with New Horizons to obtain special items and Villagers. The Legend of Zelda Amiibos will allow you to obtain outfits based on Link, Zelda, and Majora’s Mask, and will introduce Tulin and Mineru to your island.
Splatoon Amiibos will introduce outfits inspired by the Splatoon universe and offer the opportunity to invite either Cece or Viché to your island.
The character you can invite will depend on the Amiibo scanned, and the collaboration adds numerous decorations and clothing items to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for players to collect.
