Assassin’s Creed Unity Story Details, Co-op Announced – Update

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Assassin’s Creed Unity will include four player cooperative play over Xbox Live.

At the XBOX press briefing for E3 2014, Ubisoft has announced details for previously leaked and teased Assassin’s Creed Unity, including greater details about about the game’s four player cooperative play. Set during the french revolution, the game will begin in 1789 and feature the player assassins taking down the french aristocracy and aiding rebels. Up to four players will be able to collaborate over Xbox Live, with each taking on the role of a different assassin. It’s currently unknown if these will be separate characters, but they did feature different designs in the trailer that was shown.

Following up during their own press briefing, Ubisoft showed off an extended cinematic trailer detailing the french revolution setting of Unity. In the trailer a group of assassins assisted revolutionary mobs in storming the Bastille, opening gates and picking off French military officers. The main character’s name is Arnaud Dorian, using a cutlass and arm crossbow. Other assassins were shown using axes, two knives, throwing knives, and miniature arm crossbows. The new assassins’ gear has a decidedly period flair, with lots of braids, buttons, and spots for pistols.

Following up with an extended gameplay cut set in the open world during 1793 – Robespierre’s reign of terror. The assassin was set up to kill a particular faction leader during the revolution, an urban bandit leader. Roaming the streets, the player encountered dynamic missions including one to stop a pickpocket and solve a murder mystery – which was noted as “Murder Mystery 3/11.” Details were everywhere, including a pooping horse, and environments had huge numbers of NPCs on the screen at any given time. As the player explored, dynamic missions did pop up that encouraged the player to hop into co-op with others already playing. Enemies encountered had health bars.
