baldurs gate iii Larian Studios PAX East Swen Vincke Baldur's Gate III

Baldur’s Gate III will finally have gameplay footage unveiled in just a little more than a week. Larian Studios will debut the gameplay during a PAX East Q&A presentation at 3:00 p.m. ET Thursday, Feb. 27. Larian founder and game director Swen Vincke is attending the presentation alongside a “special guest,” and if you’re unable to watch in person, a live stream will be available to watch from home. The studio wanted to have some fun with the announcement, so it included a light-hearted video (below) with an extended look at the behind-the-scenes Baldur’s Gate III footage teased last month.

Baldur’s Gate III marks the “return to Baldur’s Gate for the first time in 20 years,” seeing as the previous BioWare-developed mainline entry launched in September of 2000. (Consoles received Dark Alliance titles though.) Vincke built up some excitement during his time in the video, saying, “We are on an adventure to make the best RPG that we’ve ever made, and that has required us to reinvent all of our tools, our technology, our processes, but above all, also grow our team.”

The game was announced during a Google Stadia E3 presentation last year, but Larian has mostly kept quiet about any details so far. If you’d like to learn more about the game before the PAX East presentation, be sure to watch Gameumentary’s interview with Vincke.

Baldur’s Gate III is currently only planned to launch on PC and Google Stadia and has not been given an official release window.
