Dead by Daylight: Silent Hill Brings Pyramid Head & Cheryl Mason

The latest Dead by Daylight DLC guest pack features a number of Silent Hill throwbacks, including the terrifying Pyramid Head. A reveal trailer was published alongside 10 minutes of gameplay footage today, showing that the lumbering horror villain will be accompanied by Cheryl Mason, who will appear as one of the game’s new survivors. While this may not be the Silent Hill game fans are hoping for, developer Behaviour Interactive seems to have made sure players will feel right at home in Dead by Daylight: Silent Hill. The DLC launches June 16, but you can try it out now through Steam’s Public Test Build.

Behaviour went all out when building the Silent Hill offerings for Dead by Daylight’s asymmetrical horror gameplay. Aside from Cheryl and Pyramid Head, the DLC offers players the chance to return to the first Silent Hill’s Midwich Elementary School as a new map.

Speaking with IGN, Behaviour game director Mathieu Cote and creative director Dave Richard opened up about bringing Silent Hill to Dead by Daylight. Cheryl and Pyramid Head, for example, will have unique abilities, with the latter able to sacrifice survivors quicker than other killers. Cheryl, on the other hand, will have abilities only available to use while cursed.

Richard explained that the team worked closely with Konami to almost exactly recreate Midwich Elementary School, saying, “We also packed it with secrets and winks to the series. So players will be able to discover all these little elements of puzzles, surprise, little jump scares that were in the original Silent Hill.”

As an added surprise for longtime fans of the Japanese horror franchise, series composer Akira Yamaoka has collaborated with Behaviour composer Michel April to create a new version of the Dead by Daylight theme.

Legendary Outfits are also coming to Dead by Daylight through this latest expansion; the new feature gives survivors a completely fresh look and animation change while still maintaining the character’s stats and abilities. For example, Cheryl is getting a Lisa Garland outfit. Additionally, Behaviour is adding cross-play support for consoles and PC.

Dead by Daylight has brought on other iconic horror properties in the past, with elements from Saw, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Stranger Things, Left 4 Dead, The Evil Dead, and Halloween all making an appearance at one point or another.

Players can try out Dead by Daylight: Silent Hill on Steam’s Public Test Build or wait for the full release on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 16.
