Diablo 4 leaderboards beta drops today – here’s how The Tower works and what to expect

Diablo 4 might just be in the best place it’s been in since launch, with Blizzard building on the 2023 launch with an expansion, multiple seasons, and the recent addition of the Paladin ahead of Lord of Hatred this year.

Before that expansion lands, though, there’s another much-requested feature arriving today: The Tower. This new gauntlet of dungeons ties into the beta for Diablo 4’s first leaderboard, helping players show off their builds.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new feature, and how to work your way up the Tower.

• Diablo 4 is still in its 11th season, but the leaderboards are being added as an additional update.
• The feature is free to all players, but you’ll need Vessel of Hatred to play Spiritborn, or a Lord of Hatred preorder to try the Paladin.
• The feature is in beta, so expect to see it grow in features and functionality in the months to come.

Diablo 4’s new leaderboard explained

The Leaderboard is tied to the Tower (more on that in a moment), but will only be available for those players in the Seasonal Realm. If you’ve not got a seasonal character, it might be time to make one.

“Leaderboards will run in multiple two-week rounds throughout the season, then close the day before Season of the Divine Intervention ends,” Blizzard has said.

So you’ll get a fortnight from today to prove you’re the top dungeon diver, before a new window opens up.

Blizzard will be listening to player feedback, with leaderboards split by ladders focused on specific classes. You’ll probably want to hone your build before you make the climb, though.

What is The Tower, and how to access it

According to Blizzard, “The Tower is a multi-stage timed dungeon that is meant to only be bested by the most elite of wanderers. While the Pit descends you to the greatest depths to galvanize your strength, the Tower rises in challenge to match you against others who think themselves worthy.”

The Pit will still be available, but the Tower is expected to get regular updates in the coming seasons, and is “built with Season 11’s monster combat changes in mind”.

Go to Cerrigar and use the Obelisk to run the Tower. You’ll have ten minutes to fight through to the end, with multiple floors using randomized tile sets and monster types (please, no spiders, thank you).

Use Pylons to empower you to push further, while collecting Orbs to earn progress. Once you’ve progressed enough, a boss will spawn. Defeat them, and take your place on the leaderboards.
