Unfortunately, folks who were hoping to pick up the game on their console of choice and dig into Satisfactory with friends on PC won’t be able to do so. Here’s a breakdown of Satisfactory’s crossplay options and why it’s not available for cross-platform friend groups.

The Escapist recaps

  • Satisfactory initially launched in full on September 10, 2024 for PC players, coming out of early access, generating a loyal community.
  • The Satisfactory console launch took place on November 4, 2025, giving players the chance to pick up the beloved title on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
  • Much to the dismay of some players, total cross-play is not available with Satisfactory. Players can play with those on opposite consoles, but they can’t play with folks on PC or vice versa.
  • Coffee Stain Studios put out a video a month ago explaining their reasoning behind the lack of true cross-play, which was received positively by the community.

Does Satisfactory have cross-play?

Unfortunately, no; Satisfactory does not have cross-play in its entirety. PC players cannot play with players on Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5, although console players can play with folks on the opposite console to them.

As much as this news may be a source of annoyance for some players who were looking forward to the Satisfactory console release, there has been a solid explanation released from the team behind the game.

In an official video published on October 3, 2025, Coffee Stain Studios took the time to explore burning questions around the Satisfactory console release, with one of the biggest topics being cross-play.

The video mentions that Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to play Satisfactory together, but that PC and console players will not be able to play together.

This is largely due to the variety of experiences that PC players can have – using mods and enhancements – and the technical strain that these altered game states could place on a console player.

Coffee Stain Studios wanted to keep the PC experience as open and vast as possible, while making sure that console fans could still get a kick out of the game.

Concerns around optimization and total feature reworks were also mentioned. Importantly, the video notes that the Satisfactory team is “not closing the door on it forever,” so it’s possible that something may change down the line. For now, though, true Satisfactory cross-play is not available across platforms.

Despite the lack of cross-play being admittedly disappointing, it is wonderful to see a studio being so transparent with their audience and taking the time to address key concerns. The Satisfactory console release seems to have gone down well with fans outside of this news, introducing a new player base to a beloved title.
