The third installment of survival horror series Five Nights at Freddy’s has appeared for sale on Steam with very little fanfare.

Five Nights at Freddy’s AKA “that game that Let’s Play-ers are always playing” is an indie survival horror series about being a security guard in a restaurant full of malfunctioning animatronic animals. If you’re a fan, you’ll be pleased to learn that the third installment of the series has just unexpectedly popped up on Steam, where you can buy it right now!

Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is a direct sequel to the first title, and is set thirty years in the future. The official Steam description of the title states:

Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza closed it’s doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of “Fazbear’s Fright: The Horror Attraction” are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin.6

At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper-plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made…

The attraction now has one animatronic.

The original title was praised by critics for being a unique take on the survival horror genre, with a particular emphasis on its simplistic design, along with how its gameplay mechanics and aesthetics contributed to an overall feeling of fear and paranoia. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 told the same story but in the shoes of a different security guard.
