The years keep going, and Fortnite continues to grow, with even more crossovers and content injections that keep the player base sticking around. 2026 will be no different, with Chapter 7 already underway, and Chapter 8 predicted to start later in the year.

While Epic Games has already revealed a ton of the content coming to Fortnite Chapter 7, fans are looking to the future, hoping the gameplay and world will expand even further. There are now rumours that give fans an idea of when Chapter 8 will begin, though fans will be waiting a while, assuming they’re legit.

When could Fortnite Chapter 8 come out?

Epic Games has yet to reveal what the start date for Fortnite Chapter 8 is. However, HYPEX, a notable Fortnite leaker with a stellar reputation, has stated that Fortnite Chapter 8 will begin on November 28, 2026.

It bears mentioning that, while HYPEX is well-known for accurate leaks, this is still a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed by Epic Games. There’s also a chance it’s accurate right now, but issues down the line could push it back, like the release of a particular game in November 2026

Dates were also spotted in the Fortnite creator roadmap that seem to line up with these theories around Chapter 8’s date. When more information about Chapter 8 becomes available, this article will be updated, so make sure to check back.

What might Fortnite Chapter 8 feature?

As Fortnite Chapter 7 is still ongoing, it’s unknown precisely what new content will appear in Chapter 8. Fans will get a closer look when Epic Games starts teasing the updates later in 2026, though leakers will get their hands on them before any official announcements are made.

On a basic level, Fortnite Chapter 8 should feature a new/updated map, fresh gameplay mechanics, and changes to the established formula to help bring back lapsed fans.

There should also be a Battle Pass with cosmetics, featuring a mix of Fortnite-exclusive characters, crossovers with established media franchises, and even the occasional celebrity, such as the recent Kim Kardashian skin.

Naturally, there will be more crossovers coming to Fortnite Chapter 8, and a few have already leaked, though it’s unclear what update they’ll be part of.

A recent leak claimed that there will be a crossover with Chainsaw Man, though no timeline was given, meaning it could be pushed to Chapter 8. Leakers have hinted that both Makima and Reze from Chainsaw Man will be appearing in the crossover, and that it will feature the “Jane Doe” music track from Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

Fortnite Chapter 7 has had some leaks confirmed, such as South Park characters coming to the game, but others are still awaiting confirmation. The biggest rumor is that Harry Potter characters are coming to Fortnite, but this will likely be in Chapter 7, not Chapter 8.

How often are there Fortnite updates?

Fortnite receives regular updates, usually around two weeks apart, not counting more minor updates that are pushed out to fix issues. The Fortnite Seasons that make up each Chapter have less of a set time and can range from a month to several months at a time.

A new Fortnite Chapter tends to last for around a year. This means that, even if the rumours around Chapter 8’s release dates aren’t quite right, it should still be in the same ballpark, starting sometime in November 2026.

Is Fortnite Chapter 8 launching near Grand Theft Auto 6?

If Grand Theft Auto 6 hits its current release date of November 19, 2026, then yes, Fortnite Chapter 8 will be the week after, assuming the current rumours are legitimate. There’s a chance Grand Theft Auto 6 will be delayed to 2027, and if it is, Fortnite might see a surge of sad players looking to fill that criminal empire-shaped hole in their hearts.

Who makes Fortnite?

Epic Games develops Fortnite. That said, there are so many crossovers that the game now has an endless list of trademarks in its credits.

How do I cancel my Fortnite Crew subscription?

Canceling Fortnite Crew depends on the platform. Each platform requires the player to do it through its own subscription page, rather than via any Fortnite game page.

When did Fortnite come out?

Fortnite launched on July 21, 2017. It has since become one of the most profitable video games of all time and one of the most significant multimedia entities ever created.

When is the next season of Fortnite?

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is expected to start on March 4, 2026.
