The next Forza Horizon, the imaginatively titled Forza Horizon 6, has fans excited already. With a beautiful new setting and the promise of adrenaline-packed racing at the Horizon Festival. Better yet, it’s launching sooner than you may think.
Below, you’ll find everything we know about the Forza Horizon 6 release so far, including the release date, confirmed platforms, and where fans can wishlist the game.
The Escapist recaps
- Forza Horizon 6 was shown off at Tokyo Game Show, with a teaser trailer that gave fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the upcoming racing simulator.
- The new addition to the Forza Horizon series will be set in Japan, with an event called the Horizon Festival playing a key part. The game will pay homage to Japan’s car culture and should feature a wide variety of interesting vehicles.
- The game will launch on Xbox and PC on May 19, but will come to PlayStation this year.
Forza Horizon 6 release date
At the Xbox Developer Direct 2026, Forza Horizon 6‘s release date was confirmed as May 19th, 2026.
That’s the same date that began being displayed in Forza Horizon 5 via an in-game advert just days beforehand.
Are Forza Horizon 6 pre-orders and prices confirmed?
Pricing details have not been unveiled yet for Forza Horizon 6, and pre-orders aren’t open either. However, fans can add the game to their Steam wishlist or Xbox wishlist already to keep up to date with future announcements.
We do know it’ll launch on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass for subscribers, though.
What’s new in Forza Horizon 6?
As confirmed in the Developer Direct showcase there’s a new customizable space called The Estate. Part fast travel point, part garage, players will find it’s been inspired by Japanese culture.
Car Meets will also be added, letting players rock up with their nicest car to show off their wheels.
There are 550 different cars, while the wristband progression system has been reworked with a new Collection Journal.
“We wanted this archetypically Japanese experience, but delivered in a structured way,” Design Director Torben Ellert explained to Xbox Wire.
“When you discover points of interest, that goes into your Journal, and it generates progression towards your rank in the Horizon Festival and your general progression in Japan.”
“It’s a visual representation of your journey. It’s a collection of your own specific experiences in Japan.”
Confirmed Forza Horizon 6 platforms
Forza Horizon 6 will be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S at launch. It won’t be available on PS5 from the get-go, but PS5 support is planned, with the Developer Direct confirming it’ll arrive on Sony systems later in 2026.
Will it come to Switch 2? That remains to be seen, but given how good Forza Horizon 5 looked on PS5 Pro, we’re curious if the PlayStation will get the definitive version again.
Forza Horizon 6 trailer analysis
A reveal trailer for Forza Horizon 6 was shown off at Tokyo Game Show, giving fans a glimpse of the new setting for the game.
The trailer started with a slow run-through of number plates on a garage wall, giving a nod to previous entries in the series, and then it revealed a scenic shot of Japan, confirming a brand-new location for the series.
You can catch the Developer Direct presentation here, too. Forza Horizon 6 is the first game shown.
