new Harvestella gameplay details action RPG life-sim farming fighting Nemea visuals screenshots gorgeous

Square Enix has shared more gameplay details and gorgeous screenshots for its ambitious Nintendo Switch and PC life-sim RPG Harvestella in a new blog post. First announced during the June 2022 Nintendo Direct Mini, the game has a season-based structure and players will be able to plan out a life full of farming, fighting, fishing, and more. Today’s update focuses on the vibrant-but-soft flower town of Nemea and its residents, as well as some of the delicious foods players can grow, cook, and catch.

Nemea’s flowers bloom year-round thanks to its proximity to the nearby Spring Seaslight. The cherry blossoms look equally beautiful at night as they do during the day, but Harvestella will see the townspeople in turmoil after monsters begin to fly into town to wreak havoc. You’ll be able to work together with Argus Brigade member Asyl to investigate an egg attached to the Seaslight and its connection to the recent attacks.

Also found in Harvestella is Istina, a teacher who works at Nemea’s local orphanage. She’s relatively new to the village but still manages to be one of its key citizens. Istina is known as a quiet individual, but that will change once the player has a chance to learn more about her past. Many characters who can join the player in battle have their own stories to uncover. The more you learn about and explore these individual Character Stories, the greater your bond with them will grow, leading to combat benefits and rewards.

Harvestella will let players socialize, but its battle systems are equally as important. Today, Square Enix has revealed a new job to accompany the already announced Fighter, Mage, and Shadow Walker jobs: Sky Lancer. This spear-based class uses physical attacks with wind attributes that are best utilized when fighting a group of enemies. Players can use jobs like Sky Lancer after recruiting characters who already have that job.

As for the farming and food elements, Harvestella boasts a smorgasbord of eatery items, including tomatoes and peaches, as well as not-so-inspired cucumbles and strawbuddies. Collect these ingredients and more to create full-on meals, such as Nemea Bolognese, Peach Rose Mousse, and Strawberry Shortcake. Fishing with an upgradable rod means you can find all sorts of different fish to cook or sell, too.

Harvestella launches for PC via Steam and Switch on November 4, 2022. It’s clear Square Enix has created a dense life-sim adventure, so until there’s more to share, you can look at a batch of new screenshots below to go along with the new Harvestella gameplay details.
