Tom Hiddleston surprised the audience at the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con with an unexpected and full-on appearance as Loki.
“We’re in post-production of a movie called Thor: The Dark World right now,” the Marvel man at Comic-Con said, right before his microphone went dead and the lights went out. The next voice to be heard wasn’t his, but one rather more familiar: that of actor Tom Hiddleston, who stood on the stage in full Loki regalia and mannerisms when the lights came up.
It’s hard to tell whether his smile is that of a malevolent god lording over mewling quims or simply an actor enjoying the adulation of the crowd – worship either way, I suppose – but he certainly nails the moment. And when he exhorts the audience to “Say my name” – and the audience eats it up – you just can’t help but wonder if that whatshisface guy who plays Thor could pull off the same thing. (The correct answer, by the way, is “no.”)
Thor: The Dark World, starring Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Chris O’Dowd, Ray Stevenson, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Eccleston, Rene Russo and that whatshisface guy, hits U.S. theater screens on November 8.
