Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2 release date and platforms
The second volume of classic Metal Gear games will launch on August 27, 2026. Despite appearing in Sony’s State of Play, the game is also listed to launch on Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X and S alongside PS5.
It’ll set you back $49.99, according to Steam.
What’s included?
There’s only one place to start, and that’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. A PS3 exclusive from 2008, it’s the ending to Solid Snake’s story, but has been marooned on the system for almost two decades at this point.
It’s still sitting at a 94 on Metacritic, showing just how highly-regarded it was at launch, and if you’ve missed out on not being able to jump in, now’s the time.
You’ll also find Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2. It’s a 2010 PSP title that was already remastered in the 2011 HD Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360.
Finally, Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel was a Game Boy Color exclusive (remember those). It takes place in an alternative timeline following the conclusion of the first Metal Gear in 1987.
With this, you’ll be able to play every mainline entry on a single system for the first time ever – hooray!
Ask The Escapist
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 includes two versions of Metal Gear, Snake’s Revenge, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid (and its VR missions), andMGS 2 and 3. Volume 2 includes MGS4, Peace Walker, and Ghost Babel.
The PlayStation 3 was notoriously difficult to develop for because of its proprietary architecture, making it hard to port Metal Gear Solid 4 to other platforms.
The bundle of games is $49.99, which is cheaper than the original volume as it includes fewer titles.
