Embark Studios has dropped a patch for ARC Raiders on November 27th, hot-fixing the annoying door glitch where Raiders can get into locked doors and loot without the key. This has been a problem for a few days now, and so it needed fixing. ARC Raiders dev team had a different idea for fixing the door glitch.
Rather than actually patching the door method, you can still technically door glitch through locked rooms. However, you don’t want to. The way the devs patched it is by adding a flame trap inside the rooms. Anyone who enters the room without actually using a keycard to unlock the door first will trigger the traps, causing a blazing inferno that will melt you to death in seconds.
There’s quite an entertaining clip of it happening to someone on Reddit. The player clearly does the door glitch on screen and passes through as normal. However, they get through only to trigger the traps and burn to death.
So, if you somehow figure out a new way to get through the locked rooms, then chances are this trap will trigger that way too. So you might want to start bringing keys on your raids to bag yourself ill-gotten gains.
Hopefully, the fire traps don’t bug out and start burning players en masse, regardless of whether they used the key and the door was opened normally.
If you’re not used to finding keys, be advised that they drop randomly on maps. There are a lot of keys for each map, with many different locations for each map. There’s a decent infographic cheat sheet of where to use each keycard on each map. So, if you get one, chances are you can actually open the door and not find it already looted for a change. Expect door ambushes to become more popular as players use keys to get into otherwise high-value loot areas on maps now that the door glitch exploit no longer works.
Door glitches remain to be a thorn, as it’s not the first time Embark has had to patch a door exploit, such as the barricades exploit.
