“These rewards are laughable”: ARC Raiders players frustrated with Expedition rewards

After ARC Raiders announced it was delaying the upcoming Expedition departure, gamers voiced their ongoing frustration with the game’s Expedition rewards.

Expedition is a feature in ARC Raiders that lets you wipe your character’s progress and start fresh. The window for doing so will now be December 17th to the 22nd, giving players a few more days to build up their characters in hopes of getting better rewards for their stash value. However, players don’t even think a few days is enough.

Expedition rewards not worth it to ARC Raiders players

According to Embark Studios’ recent blog post on the delay, these are the rewards you get for resetting:

Permanent Unlocks:

  • The Patchwork Raider outfit
  • Scrappy Janitor Cap
  • Expeditions Indicator icon
  • Skill points (depending on Stash value)
  • +12 Stash space

Temporary Buffs:

  • 10% repair buff
  • 5% xp boost
  • 6% more materials from Scrappy

This way, your new character won’t set out completely bare. It’s a nice gesture, but players are not having any of it. Why? It requires a ton of grinding and in-game cash to get their characters where they are. The thought of wiping them for these rewards, which are seen as pretty underwhelming, have insulted a lot of the playerbase.

The most frustrating part of the Expedition is that players don’t seem to get fairly rewarded for putting in a ton of time and loot into the Project unlocked at Level 20. Here is what it requires:

Part 1

  • 150× Metal Parts
  • 200× Rubber Parts
  • 80× ARC Alloy
  • 15× Steel Springs

Part 2

  • 35× Durable Cloths
  • 30× Wires
  • 30× Electrical Components
  • 5× Cooling Fan

Part 3

  • 5× Lightbulbs
  • 30× Batteries
  • 20× Sensors
  • 1× Exodus Modules

Part 4

  • 5× Humidifiers
  • 5× Advanced Electrical Components
  • 3× Magnetic Accelerators
  • 3× Leaper Pulse Units

Part 5

  • 250,000 Coins worth of Combat Items
  • 100,000 Coins worth of Survival Items
  • 180,000 Coins worth of Provisions
  • 300,000 Coins worth of Materials

It’s a lot of effort and loot to complete, making it seem a bit insulting to take part in the Expedition, lose progress, and get very minimal rewards.

“These rewards are LAUGHABLE. Have you lost your fucking minds??” one player wrote. “Zero respect for player time. Due to insane $5m requirement, now all these epic guns are locked and won’t be run in pvp/enjoyed. And I bet the skin will suck ass just like Trials skin. Embark, we love you, but COME ON :(”

Other players suggested that Embark let you keep blueprints when you restart.

One explained: “Let people keep blueprints and then it’s worth it. Benches need to be upgraded anyway before you can use them. It’s not that big of a deal to keep blueprints. They are scarce anyway. People won’t wipe, and then you’ll have to go up against people with top-tier weapons constantly at extractions now.”

Another simply stated: “Sorry fam, love the game but I won’t lose 80 hours of blueprint hardly earned in solo.”

The concept of a character reset in exchange for rewards is an interesting one for an extraction shooter. It’s a great incentive to grind and not become too bored. However, the rewards for doing so just don’t seem to be tantalizing for ARC Raiders players. In fact, many find them downright insulting.

Embark has not responded to the ongoing complaints yet (add that to the list of things being ignored for now), so players have about 10 days to decide they will take part in the Expedition or keep forging ahead.
