Control Resonant gameplay

Control: Resonant is Remedy’s next game, and brings action combat to the developer’s shared universe

The folks at Remedy Entertainment have popped their heads back up with a trippy stage presentation and a bold new direction for the Control franchise.

The universe is expanding with Control: Resonant, a new action-based title that will seemingly follow on from the first Control title in some way. With the wider shared universe encompassing Alan Wake 2 and last year’s FBC Firebreak, this is something just as surprising.

Control: Resonant is a big change for Remedy… again

“Explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation in this thrilling action-adventure RPG,” the trailer description explains, with the game slated to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

“Unleash the extraordinary powers of Dylan Faden as he fights for his humanity and survival against a reality-bending cosmic threat.”

The trailer shows us Dylan Faden, the brother of Jesse from the last game. It seems he will be using his powers to fight back against whichever paranormal force has attacked Manhattan.

An interview with Mikael Kasurinen, Co-Creative Director on the PlayStation Blog explains, “you don’t need to have played the first Control to experience Resonant”, and it’s apparently a “new story and a fresh entry point into Remedy’s world of the Federal Bureau of Control – though returning players will recognize familiar echoes of Jesse’s path and the mysteries binding these two siblings together.”

It also mentions that Control: Resonant is “the biggest game” the studio has made, promising “things are going to get weirder”.
