Here’s how to access World of Warcraft’s Midnight’s starting quest, and be ready for launch later

World of Warcraft Midnight Expansion is upon us, with Xal’atath’s forces now marching upon the home of the Blood Elves. When the Midnight’s release time finally arrives, players will be on their way to their respective factions’ capitals of either Orgrimmar or Stormwind to accept a quest called Midnight. When this quest pops up, you will get the Midnight starting quest and be on your way.

How to Get Midnight’s Starting Quest

Based on the beta, players can get Midnight’s starting quest by logging in when the quest goes live. Though, with the timer going live on retail, chances are the quest will pop up at some point. Make sure to check your Adventure Journal to start Midnight and have spare quest log space available. Alternatively you can walk up to the NPCs and get the quest that way if its not in your Quest Log.

In terms of the exact location, it depends on the capital city:

  • To the left of the Inn in Valley of Strength
  • At the bottom of the steps leading to Stormwind Cathedral

You will need to speak to the illusion of Lady Liadrin. You will get the option to teleport to Quel’Danas or watch a cinematic if you’d like.

When it loads in, you will arrive at Quel’Thalas under siege and get a few quests to start the introduction of Midnight.

Note that like with most expansion launches, servers may be a bit laggy. Expect capital cities, and potentially even the loading screen between your capital city and Quel’Thalas, to be rather slow as it loads you in.

If you’re prepping characters, make sure to log into your characters when Midnight goes live for you. That way you can start accruing rested XP. Getting a character to the new level cap will also grant an extra 5% XP buff, up to 25%, so you can really start power leveling characters over the early access weekend using this strat.

Don’t forget, getting the game early is a good time to start farming professions and making a huge amount of gold for the start of the expansion. Gold earning potential is the craziest at this time of the game cycle. So, have fun starting Midnight and achieving your pre-season goals.
