All over the world, Minecraft players have noticed that the Realms are down. What’s going on? Is there anything that can be done?
Minecraft Realms are personal servers where you can play online with friends using shared, safe worlds. Bedrock Edition is for consoles, while Java Realms are for PC. Unfortunately, it appears that all gamers across all platforms are impacted.
What is wrong with Minecraft Realms?
On January 18th, Minecraft players around the world began noticing issues launching the game and logging in. The issues started in the morning (PST time) and have continued into the afternoon.
It’s definitely a bummer for gamers who wanted to play Minecraft over the weekend, since servers also experienced issues for five hours on January 17th.
Is there a way to fix Minecraft Realms being down?
Yeah, play Hytale instead. There’s a pretty big update and everything.
Alright, all jokes aside, there are a few things you can try.
- Sign out, shut down your gaming system, restart Minecraft, and sign in again
- If you’re on PC, sign out of the Minecraft Store or any other service as well
- Check if you have the latest version of Minecraft, since Realms is not supported on older versions
- If you’re on console, check that your online subscription is active (Xbox Game Pass, Nintnedo Switch Online, PlayStation Plus).
- Then, if you’re on Xbox Game Pass, unsubscribe (just kidding)
- Unless?
- Then, check your Realms subscription, which must be active
- Alternatively, contact the Realm owner to ensure they have an active subscription
- If you own the Realm, reset your Realm to see if this resolves the issues
If the issue is worldwide, however, I think you may need to wait for Minecraft to fix the issue. The Minecraft X account has not made any comments about the Realms issue, so it’s unclear if developers are aware or not.
