Necesse

Necesse: The sandbox game you haven’t heard of that’s sold 1.5 million copies in Early Access, heads for full release this week

Overwhelmingly Positive. You don’t see that often on Steam Reviews for an Early Access game, but as Necesse prepares to get a full launch after selling over one and a half million copies, you might be thinking, What the hell is Necesse?

I don’t want to prejudice your opinion by saying Terraria meets Stardew, but Necesse’s community has been banging the drum on this one since 2019, and now, finally, it’s getting its V1.0 release in just a couple of days’ time, on the 16th of October.

“Build, quest, and conquer across an infinite, procedurally generated world. Necesse is a top-down sandbox action-adventure game, with settlements to establish and dungeons to explore. Play alone or with friends and fight monsters and bosses, mine rare ores, craft magical equipment, build an army, recruit specialists for your colony, and more! ” So says the blurb, but Necesse is so much more than those few lines could ever say. If you are looking for a game to sink hours into between now and the end, well, end of time, you should definitely check out Necesse.

Oh, and it will set you back less than $15 on Steam as well, and is a perfect travel companion on Steam Deck to while away those commuting hours.

What’s New in 1.0

  • Infinite seamless world – “one-world”
In 1.0, the world of *Necesse* is getting a massive overhaul that the community has been asking for for a long time: Instead of the current island-based worlds with small loading screens between them, the whole world will be connected into an infinite, seamless world to explore.
  • Settler interactions
The settlers in the world of Necesse are getting an upgrade and will now interact with each other through emotes. Listen to them talk about love, life, and burgers?
  • Expanded end-game “Incursion” system
Adventurers will have access to a new talent tree that will hopefully let them face their biggest challenge yet: the final boss!
  • Nearly 100 community submitted presents
  • 1.0 will include a host of smaller new features like the new settler management system, new items, new sound effects, balancing, upgrades, and fixes across the board.
  • And more!!
