Nioh 3

Nioh 3: Dark samurai action RPG coming in February – pre-orders open already

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have finally given us a date for Nioh 3 – the latest game in their dark samurai action RPG series. The first game came out originally in 2017, and we did get a remaster just after the pandemic, but the development can be traced back to the PlayStation 3 and 2004.

So, in case you haven’t been an avid follower of Nioh over the years, let’s have a quick overview of what you will be getting up to here: “In Nioh 3players take on the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, poised to become the next Shogun during Japan’s turbulent Sengoku period. In the shadows, Takechiyo’s younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, consumed by hatred towards his brother’s succession, plots to overthrow him. Empowered by a sinister force, he leads a horde of yokai in a fierce assault on Takechiyo, abruptly ending the era of peace and plunging Japan into hell. Guided by the mysterious power of his guardian spirit Kusanagi, Takechiyo transcends time to survive this kingdom in dire straits and become Shogun.”

You can check the story trailer for Nioh 3, directed by Shinji Higuchi, showcasing the story so far, to catch you up ahead of the big day.
