The Man Without Fear dons a familiar early look in first image from Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series

Fans at NYCC got their first look at Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as The Kingpin in Marvel’s first Netflix series, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to know how The Man Without Fear dresses for work.

Instead, Marvel revealed an image showing Cox wearing what is believed to be a makeshift suit Murdock uses prior to fully assuming the more familiar Daredevil identity: an all-black fabric suit with a black half-face mask that covers his eyes. The look should be familiar to fans; it’s extremely similar both to a proto-costume depicted in Frank Miller’s Man Without Fear storyline and suit worn by the character in the TV movie Trial of The Incredible Hulk.

Created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett in 1964, Daredevil follows the exploits of blind New York Attorney Matt Murdock who uses his super-heightened remaining sense to moonlight as an acrobatic costumed-crimefighter. The new Netflix venture will be the first in a series that will also include Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Alias: Jessica Jones; culminating in a crossover event called The Defenders.
