Stolen Pixels #229: The Tearful Goodbye

This article is over 14 years old and may contain outdated information

So Good Old Games went out of business. But not really. Now it’s clear that the service is just getting a facelift and the announcement on their website earlier this week was just an attention-grab done in poor taste. (But very effective!)

Good Old Games is a digital download service that sells old games (mostly titles from the 1990’s) at low prices with no DRM. This is a virtuous endeavor. Their work is akin to feeding the poor, helping the lame to walk, or punching Bobby Kotick in the happysack. I simply can’t stay mad at them.

By the time this comic goes live their new website will have launched. Unless this whole thing is some sort of double-reverse prank, in which case I’ll be the one waving a gun around and talking crazy.

Shamus Young is the guy behind Twenty Sided, DM of the Rings, and Stolen Pixels, Shamus Plays, and Spoiler Warning. And none of that is his day job.
