While there weren’t many major video game news stories today, (Check out that TV show news for Disco Elysium and Cuphead though!) it was filled with a handful of smaller pieces of news, like Dying Light‘s Hellraid DLC release date, an announcement of Minecraft Dungeons‘ upcoming Jungle Awakens DLC, and The Last of Us Part II smashing sales records. Here’s the news you might’ve missed on June 26, 2020.
The Last of Us Part II Breaks Sales Records
It’s clear The Last of Us Part II’s leaks prior to launch had little to no impact on it from a commercial standpoint. In just three days, Naughty Dog’s latest game sold through 4 million copies, becoming the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation 4 title ever.
The previous fastest-selling first-party game was Marvel’s Spider-Man at 3.3 million copies sold in three days. We’ll have to wait to see where The Last of Us Part II sits in terms of overall cumulative sales, but a huge congratulations is due to Naughty Dog and Sony for the success.
Minecraft Dungeons: Jungle Awakens DLC Will Launch in July
We now know when Minecraft Dungeons will be getting its Jungle Awakens DLC, and the good news is that we won’t have to wait long. Launching on July 1, the DLC will send players to the jungle, adding new missions, enemies, items, and areas to explore. Those who own the game’s Hero Edition will get the DLC at no additional charge, but you can purchase the content separately for $5.
Additionally, a free update is coming too including “the Lost Temple dungeon, some new items, and a few game balancing changes.”

Square Enix Set to Announce Upcoming Projects in July and August
It’s summer, meaning many large video game publishers were planning on announcing upcoming projects to coincide with E3. Even though E3 isn’t happening, publishers like Square Enix still have plans for announcements. More specifically, Square Enix will make game announcements throughout July and August, according to a stockholder meeting Q&A.
The company had originally planned on having an E3 presentation, and if its contents were anything like in previous years, the announcements this summer could be major. It’s unknown what the publisher plans to announce, but many are hoping for more Final Fantasy — whether it be Final Fantasy XVI or the follow-up to Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Dying Light: Hellraid DLC Is Out Next Month
Though it released in 2015, Dying Light is continuing to get support, this time with its upcoming Hellraid DLC. It’ll launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on July 23. This DLC will send players on a journey to fight against demons, with the possibility of earning rewards to use in the main game.
Techland is also still working on Dying Light 2, though it’s unclear when it’ll release. For now, Dying Light: Hellraid will have to hold you over.
