360 Elite Version Hard Drives Spotted, Sans Elite

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

The hard drives for 360 Elite are out and about in retail, but no one knows for sure how they will interface with existing 360s.

The hardware-oriented gurus at HardOCP.COM have spotted – and photographed – 120GB standalone hard drives for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 a few days in advance of the 360 Elite’s debut.

Gamers at some sites such as Ars Technica have engaged in some reasonable speculation, but Microsoft has not made clear what kind of interoperability, if any, existing 360 owners will enjoy with the 360 Elite by attempting to transfer data from one system to another.

The Elite, set apart by its black exterior finish, HDMI support and larger capacity, arrives in stores April 29 at a $479 price point.
