Camera and video solutions company 3DV Systems will present a new depth-sensing camera at this year’s GDC.
The company boasts the gadget has “the potential to radically change human-machine interfaces with its fine gesture recognition capability” in a variety of industries, including gaming, computing, media management and security.
3DV Systems claims that, from a gaming standpoint, its product will allow gamers to “become the interface” through “total immersion.” Motion will be determined by either thumb or, in 3D mode, via the entire body.
ZCAM touts real-time depth imaging at 60 frames per second, a rate the manufacturer says will eliminate lag. According to its manufacturer, it will also work in all lighting conditions and therefore offers great versatility as well as a small footprint.
