The Witcher: Blood Origin Lands December 2022 Release Date

The Witcher: Blood Origin is set to tell the story of the very first Witcher on Christmas Day.  The new limited series takes place 1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia and the events depicted in the main series (and other associated media), at a time before the Conjunction of the Spheres saw humans and monsters arrive and overrun the world. The series will explore the lead-up to that event, as well as how and why The Witchers were created.

Elves will be the main focus of the piece, with Everything Everywhere All at Once star Michelle Yeoh headlining as Scian, the last member of a nomadic tribe of warriors. Sophia Brown stars as Éile, a warrior who is also a talented musician, alongside Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, who is driven by revenge.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will be four episodes long. It’s just the latest in the continuing expansion of the franchise, with a family-friendly series currently in the works, alongside a fourth video game in CD Projekt RED’s acclaimed RPG series.

In other news from The Witcher universe, Netflix has also revealed that the third season of the epic fantasy series will launch a few months after Blood Origin, in Summer 2023.

Netflix set the release date as part of its Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event today, which is providing subscribers with a comprehensive look at what the streamer has coming up in the next few months.
