Shadow Man Remastered Coming to PC & Consoles

Valiant Entertainment announced today that it has teamed up with Nightdive Studios to remaster the 1999 video game adaptation of Shadow Man. Based upon the superhero comic of the same name (which is getting a new series later this year and exists in the same shared universe as Bloodshot), the action title was originally developed by Acclaim Studios. The remastered version will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG.

Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick explained that the company’s goal with the remaster is to “give today’s generation of gamers all the features that they expect from a modern title while preserving the qualities [of the original].” As such, the remastered version of Shadow Man will feature a host of new features. Graphical improvements include 4K widescreen display support, HDR rendering, dynamic shadow mapping and per-pixel lighting, antialiasing, higher density of particle effects, and refined art assets.

Nightdive Studios also promises a refined gameplay experience, although it wasn’t specified what the developer is changing, and the reintroduction of cut content from the original game. Just like the recently announced remaster of the classic Blade Runner adventure game, it will run on the studio’s KEX engine.

“As part of our continued growth into the video game industry, we’re happy to bring Valiant fans this immensely popular Shadow Man character as the next title we release,” Valiant Entertainment CEO Dan Mintz said of the partnership. “Using this platform allows the Valiant fans to experience and explore the universe creatively.”
