SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated Is a Faithful Remake, Good and Bad – Review in 3 Minutes

Recommended Videos

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is a 3D action platformer collect-a-thon developed by Purple Lamp Studios and is a remastered version of the original Battle for Bikini Bottom from 2003.

You play as SpongeBob, Sandy, and Patrick fighting against an army of robots Plankton created but can’t control. Each character has their own move set and abilities — such as Patrick’s ability to throw objects and enemies and Sandy’s hover jump — making certain areas and collectibles accessible only to them. Combat is easy but enjoyable, though not having difficulty options is disappointing. Platforming is fun when the platforms are large. However, navigating smaller platforms is often frustrating since it’s not always clear where your character is in 3D space. Turning off the smart camera to control the camera manually helps in most of those situations.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is available June 23 for $29.99 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
