The Eminence Symphony Orchestra will be bringing three “A Night in Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition” concerts to Australian audiences in late April.
The global electronic gaming industry contributes some AU$850 million to the Australian Economy, and Australians spend 2.3 million daily on interactive games. Creating music for these games is an industry in its own right, and the creativity of this music will be showcased in these concerts.
Two of the “Night in Fantasia” concerts will be held in Sydney, and one will be in Melbourne. The concerts will showcase World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, Super Mario Brothers, the Kingdom Hearts[/i] series, the Metal Gear Solid series, the Final Fantasy series, Shadow of the Colossus, Tales of Legendia, Xenosaga, Chrono Cross, the Soul Caliber series, the Tekken series and many more.
The 60-piece Eminence Symphony Orchestra will be accompanied by a 30-piece choir, and memorable moments from the featured game series will be projected onto a giant screen during the concert.
The concerts will be attended by the most famous composers of the videogame industry, including Yoko Shimoumura, composer of the Kingdom Hearts series and Final Fantasy Versus XIII; Hitoshi Sakimoto, composer of Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics; Yasuhori Mitsuda, composer of Chrono Trigger and Xenogears; Kow Otani, composer of Shadow of the Colossus and Haibane Renmai; Shiro Hamaguchi, orchestrator and arranger of the Final Fantasy series; Masaru Shiina, composer of Tales of Legendia, Tekken: Dark Resurrection and Ace Combat 3; and Junichi Nakatsuru, composer of the Soul Caliber series and Ace Combat 5: the Unsung War.
“A Night in Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition” will be in Sydney April 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sydney Town Hall, and on April 27 in Melbourne at 7:30 p.m. at Hamer Hall, the Arts Centre.
