There’s not much going on in the first teaser and poster for A Quiet Place Part II, but considering the purpose of everyone in the film is to stay as quiet as possible, that probably makes sense. The sequel to the sci-fi/horror film, which finds John Krasinski returning to write and direct, now has its first teaser, image (above), and poster below.
A Quiet Place Part II follows the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) after the events of the first film where (spoiler) dad was killed by the aliens who hunt by sound alone. They must now head out into the outside world for some reason and according to the official plot description discover that “the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”
Are the other threats other humans? Different monsters that hunt by taste? Scurvy? We don’t know. What we do know is that as far as trailers for trailers go, (The full trailer lands on New Year’s Day.) this is a pretty good one. The entire scene could function as a little mini-movie in and of itself and sets up a fantastic premise. How well the gimmick of the original A Quiet Place will play out as the world expands is up in the air, but at least now we know what it will look like.
Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou also star in A Quiet Place Part II, which will open on March 20, 2020.
