Nintendo Direct showcases are always full of surprises, including everything from new title releases to DLC drops for beloved games. The showcase that took place on September 12, 2025, was no exception to this.

Nintendo fans were treated to an hour-long Nintendo Direct showcase on September 12, 2025, featuring a slew of new games, Nintendo Switch 2 editions, and exciting DLC packs for beloved titles. 

Mixing the styles up completely, some of the games in the showcase were dark and gritty, while others were cute and whimsical. There were even some fascinating hardware announcements amidst the game reveals, too. 

Hades 2

Hades 2 promises to be an action-packed fever dream for roguelike fans, following up the wildly successful first game with even more dungeons, otherworldly weapons, and memorable characters.

Based on the art, trailer, and what’s been seen in the early access Steam version, this mythology-rich game should provide hours of fun.

At the time of writing, the early access version is sitting between Very Positive and Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam. While this won’t guarantee anything, it’s a great indication of what’s to come when the game enters the Switch world. 

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment 

Fans of The Legend of Zelda don’t have long to wait until they get a new title to race through. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is dropping on November 6, 2025, with pre-orders opening up on September 12, 2025.

This game will let players tear through ancient Hyrule with a hack-and-slash gameplay style and a roster of memorable characters. 

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book 

Yoshi fans, rejoice – the funky little dinosaur will be making a fresh appearance in a new game called Yoshi and the Mysterious Book in spring 2026. An exact release date has not been confirmed outside of this window at the time of writing. 

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is an upcoming 2D platformer with a delightful art style. In the game, Yoshi will explore the pages of the titular book, interacting with the magical world and the creatures that reside within it. 

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake 

2025 has been a fantastic year to be a horror fan with Cronos: The New Dawn and the upcoming Silent Hill f, but 2026 might be on track to outshine it. 

A remake of the legendary Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly will be floating its way onto Steam, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PS5. It’s arguably one of the most memorable Fatal Frame titles out of the series, with a rich and unsettling story that’ll leave your skin crawling. 

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Arguably one of the most anxiously-awaited titles to be announced in the Direct showcase, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally has a release date. It’ll be available on December 4, 2025.

Players will be able to look out for additional releases like a retrospective book and new Amiibos in the lead-up to launch. While there hasn’t been an overwhelming amount revealed about this Metroid Prime entry’s gameplay, what has been seen so far is promising.
