BioWare has unveiled its plans for a limited Collector’s Edition of Mass Effect 2 and this time around, PC gamers won’t be left out in the cold.

Like most BioWare games, the original Mass Effect came in two flavors: A standard release and a gussied-up Collector’s Edition, which included an art book, a bonus content DVD and more. Unfortunately, it was available only to Xbox 360 owners; the studio elected not to put out a special edition of the PC version when it came out six months later.

The playing field will be leveled for part two, however. BioWare announced today that a limited Collector’s Edition will be available for both platforms when the game is released next year. The Collector’s Edition will come in a metal case and include a 48-page hardcover art book, the first issue of the Mass Effect Redemption comic book, a second DVD filled with extra content and special in-game weapons and armor that will be exclusive to the CE.

“We’re really excited to roll out this Collector’s Edition featuring so many unique items, including special Collector’s Edition armor and weapons and content that will surprise Mass Effect fans,” said BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka. “The limited edition comic book and bonus DVD will really enhance and expand the overall Mass Effect 2 experience.”

Mass Effect 2 hits store shelves in North America on January 26, 2010 and January 29 in Europe.
