The latest BioWare Pulse video takes a look at some of the improved combat features of Mass Effect 3.
You’re going to have to skip ahead to about the 1:45 spot in this video to get to the good stuff [unless you want to sit through the mid-November video unveiling one more time] but once you’re there you’ll have the opportunity to check out two of BioWare’s finest, gameplay designer Eric Fagnan and combat designer Corey Gaspur, take you through a few minutes of Mass Effect 3 battlefield action.
The new game will boast a number of combat improvements over its predecessors. Engineers will be able to deploy sentries that can be used to help flank enemies, while Vanguards have a new power called Nova, a “high-risk, high reward” maneuver that puts nearby enemies down in a hurry. Each class will also bring a new “heavy melee” move to the party, and for those moments when discretion and subtlety is called for, a new Krogan shotgun has been added to the mix. That sounds like it’ll be right up my alley; I don’t have anything against powers or biotics, but Krogans and Turians tend to figure prominently in my trips planetside.
Mass Effect 3 is set to come out on March 6, 2012, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
