If you’re a lapsed player looking for a reason to jump back in, Black Ops 7 will be getting fresh maps, while Warzone players will be getting access to some fresh weapons, perks, and more.

Here’s everything coming in Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 2 when it arrives this week.

The Escapist recaps

  • Black Ops 7 is getting its second season of content, alongside an update for Warzone.
  • The update is coming on February 5 for both games.
  • Expect all new content to be free, with paid add-ons for skins and a fresh battle pass.

Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 2 release date

We had a pretty good idea, because the current Season 1 Battle Pass is expected to end around February 5 – and we now have confirmation.

You can check out the first trailer below, which confirms the timing.

As for release timings, we’re expecting it to go live at 9 AM PT or 5 PM GMT on PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.

Focusing on the mainline entry for now, Black Ops 7’s Season 2 update will likely be heftier than the Season 1 Reloaded update.

Reloaded updates are almost half-steps between seasons, so we’re expecting big things from Season 2. The launch trailer is certainly explosive, as always.

There are the usual accoutrements: a fresh Battle Pass, new store items, and new maps, too. We’re also getting Ranked mode added to Black Ops 7.

The new weapons include the REV-46 SMG, and the EGRT-17 assault rifle at launch, as well as a new H311-SAW blade for melee attacks and the GDL Havoc special weapon, which is a pump-action grenade launcher with rounds that stick to surfaces.

During the season, we’ll get the SG-12 semi-automatic shotgun, the Voyak KT-3 assault rifle, and the Swordfish A1 marksman rifle.

The new maps are Torment, Sake, and Nexus, while Slums is a remake of Black Ops 2’s version. The mid-season update will add Torque, Cliff Town (previously Yemen from Black Ops 2), and Firing Range and Grind from Black Ops 6.

For Zombies players, we have a little more of an idea of what’s coming. Mars will be getting a survival map, new weapons are coming to the Mystery Box (the Hawker HX and Sturmwolf 45), and Starting Room will be a permanent game mode.

We will be getting a new Zombies map entirely, but not until Black Ops 7 Season 2 Reloaded.

And hey, after that fun Fallout collab, maybe we’ll get another in-game event tied to something else – although there’s nothing revealed just yet.

New Warzone updates

Season 2 marks the arrival of the Avalon map in Warzone – the very same one found in the Endgame mode in Black Ops 7, but not until Season 2 Reloaded.

“Mid-Season introduces a brand-new Battle Royale experience with the arrival of the Avalon map in Call of Duty: Warzone. Built from the ground up, this is a new Mode that draws inspiration from Call of Duty’s Battle Royale origins, Black Ops 4 Blackout. More details will be revealed at Season 02 Reloaded,” Activision’s blog post explains.

That’s a big deal, since it’s a nice, varied locale with plenty of neat POIs, including urban areas, rivers, and more.

Not to be forgotten, Rebirth Island is getting some fresh tweaks, too, including a snowy overhaul. All in all, it could be a great season to be a Warzone player. That’s coming at Season 2 launch, at least.

Ask The Escapist

When are Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 2?

Both updates launch on February 5.

Are the updates free?

Both updates will be free, meaning they won’t split the playerbase like the map packs of old.

Is Black Ops 7 popular?

It wasn’t at launch, but as with any Call of Duty title, it’s still going to be popular with a core group of fans. Season 2 marks a great way for Activision to entice lapsed players back.
