Blizzard Adding Deathmatch Mode to Overwatch Arcade

Blizzard has announced that it is adding a Deathmatch mode to Overwatch, and you can try it out on the PTR.

If you’ve always wanted to focus on killing the other team in Overwatch, you’ll soon get your wish. Blizzard has announced that the newest mode being added to their shooter is Deathmatch. The new mode is already playable on the game’s PTR.

The addition of Deathmatch brings with it two new game modes. First up is Free-For-All, which is exactly what it sounds like – an every-player-for-themselves melee where the winner is the first one to 20 kills. The other mode is Team Deathmatch, which pits two teams of six against each other, with the first team to 30 kills getting the victory. This mode also adds a caveat: players resurrected by Mercy are subtracted from the opposing team’s kill count.

Also coming along with Deathmatch is a brand-new map, Chateau Guillard. A number of the game’s existing maps have been adapted for the mode as well. You can find the full patch notes for the current PTR, as well as instructions on how to access it, in this post on the official Overwatch blog.

If you’re looking to play some Overwatch but don’t want to dig into the PTR, you could always check out the return of the Summer Games event that kicked off earlier this week.
