Bloodroots is a top-down action platformer from Paper Cult. Itā€™s set in the self-described ā€œWeird Westā€ and follows your character Mr. Wolf on a bloody rampage to seek vengeance against the band of outlaws that betrayed him, ā€œThe Blood Beasts.ā€

Ultimately, this game embodies the old adage ā€œless is more.ā€ Despite some platforming hiccups, its level of challenge feels rooted in mastery of its three-button combat. Its deceptively simple controls and understated story reveal layers of depth over the roughly 8-hour campaign, and it ends up being a fun and challenging experience.
