Bounty Battle Combines Indie Icons for a So-So Fighting Experience – Review in 3 Minutes

Recommended Videos

Bounty Battle is an indie fighting game by Dark Screen Games. The main draw is a roster of 25 characters from different indie games, all of whom are unlocked from the start. While each character has the same button combinations for moves, their move sets vary and are based on abilities in their respective games. Gameplay offers a mix of ideas from 2D fighters and Smash Bros. with a few twists of its own, such as characters having a stamina gauge with each move costing a set amount, making sure you can’t combo chain powerful moves or dodge forever.

While I love the idea of Bounty Battle, the lack of polish and list of issues hurt its potential. It’s difficult to recommend for anything besides the novelty.

The game is available now on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One for $24.99 but is currently 20% off and on Steam for $19.99 but is currently 15% off.
