Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Ballad Sings Silas’ Lament

There’s a time for grieving, and a time to just pray.

Perhaps it’s a sign of misspent youth, but the latest trailer from the Call of Juarez: Gunslinger‘s developers, The Story of Silas Greaves, reminded me of the sort of thing Sam Peckinpah’d come up with. Not that it’s Bob Dylan providing the tune, mind you, but it’s no bad number for all that. Protagonist Silas Greaves is the kind of outlaw the bad men fear, but you have to wonder whether he’ll end up paying a few dues of his own.

Call of Juarez‘s last trip to the rodeo did not go well at all, so it’s a relief to see the developers take the franchise back to its wild west roots. Not much is known about the title at the moment, or about protagonist Silas, but all indications are he’s going to be blasting his way through pretty much every single iconic western image and personality you can think of, with a few extras for good measure. All he has to do now is shoot a man for snoring too loud, and Silas’ll be the top outlaw in the territory.

This is due 22nd May, for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
