Dark Souls 3 Kills Us All In 2016

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

From Software’s Dark Souls 3 will kill us more times than we can count early next year.

Dark Souls has never been your typical fantasy RPG series, thanks to a dark world full of bleak horrors that will kill your character over and over. But it remains one of the most compelling experiences for hardcore fans in recent memory, which means its story isn’t close to finished yet. That’s why, as was recently rumored, Dark Souls 3 will be released by From Software and Namco Bandai in Early 2016.

Not only do we have confirmation on a new Dark Souls and a release timeframe, Namco Bandai has released a new trailer as well. This video strikes the perfect tone for a ruined world right away, while showcasing some of the enemies we’ll face – most noticeably a large armored figure with an uncomfortably oversized blade weapon.

What’s more, Dark Souls and Bloodborne fans will be excited to learn that Hidetaka Miyazaki is returning to the series as director. Miyazaki stepped away from the director’s role for Dark Souls 2 to fill a supervisory position, but he’s now back to bring his unique perspective to the third entry. Here’s hoping it’s everything long-time fans desire, no matter how many times our characters fall.
