Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe will be the keynote speaker at this year’s PAX Prime, which will also include demos, competitions and plenty of nerdtastic tunes.
PAX Prime is coming – that’s the Penny Arcade Expo on the left coast, by the way – and the keynote speaker this year will be none other than David Jaffe, the outspoken creator of the Twisted Metal and God of War franchises. Whether or not you care about his games, Jaffe’s selection as a headliner is a good one because he has an opinion on everything and he’s never met an F-bomb he didn’t like. In recent months Jaffe has predicted the end of consoles and big-budget games, called on the gaming press to be harder on developers and described “art games” as “smoke and mirrors bullshit.” That’s some good stuff right there.
But that’s not all! As usual, PAX will also serve up nightly concerts featuring regular PAX players Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, Metroid Metal, the Minibosses and Paul and Storm, along with PAX Prime first-timers Supercommuter and The Video Game Orchestra. More than 100 exhibitors will be on hand, including 2K Games, Turbine, Activision, NCsoft, BioWare, Capcom, Wizards of the Coast, Privateer Press and Microsoft, which will be holding Halo Fest, “the largest and most expansive live Halo experience anyone has ever seen.”
PAX Prime 2011 runs from August 26 to 28 in beautiful downtown Seattle, Washington. Sadly, the event is sold out, so unless you’re prepared to pay scalper prices or kill someone for their ticket, the best you can do at this point is read all about it at prime.paxsite.com.
