Dev Duo Creates Stop Motion Point & Click

Level building takes on a whole new meaning in The Dream Machine, a videogame built out of clay and cardboard.

There probably aren’t many ways of making a videogame that are more time consuming than building every level as an physical, three dimensional model and then photographing it, but that’s the lengths that Cockroach Inc has gone to to make its game The Dream Machine really stand out.

In The Dream Machine you play as Victor and Alicia, a couple that has just moved into a new apartment and discovered that things are not quite what they seem. Cockroach, made up of Anders Gustafsson and Erik Zaring, wanted to make something that looked unique and was different from other adventure games. The game is split up into five chapters, and Cockroach hopes to have the first two available to play some times this summer. The game is only playable online and Cockroach says that it plans to tweak and improve the game based on the statistics it gathers.

If you want to give the game a try, you can play a demo on the official site. The puzzles aren’t the most challenging in the world, but it’s hard not to be drawn in by the visuals. You can also read about how the game was made at the official production blog.
