Dodgeball Academia Review in 3 Minutes – A Fantastic Sports RPG

Recommended Videos

Dodgeball Academia is a sports RPG title developed by Pocket Trap and published by Humble Games. You play as Otto, a kid who loves the sport of dodgeball and joins the corresponding academy to become the absolute best. Throughout your journey you’ll meet new friends and foes, explore different sections of the campus, and learn how the school became the foremost gathering point for the best dodgeball players in the world. Otto will have to think fast and recruit to qualify for the upcoming tournament.

This game offers a fantastic experience. It’s self-aware and leans into its tropes, delivers intense gameplay as it mixes in RPG elements with items and equipment, and provides an overall entertaining experience. Drawing influences from the Pokémon games and other popular anime, Dodgeball Academia feels oddly familiar yet unique. After 12 hours of watching Otto and his friends make history, I still wanted more, which is always a great sign.

Dodgeball Academia is available August 5 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Steam, and the Humble Bundle storefront for $24.99.
