EA Offers Wisdom on Breaking Into the Gaming Biz

Furthering a company-wide bid to become universally adored, EA has begun offering prospective game developers a huge wealth of tips and tricks on how to best nab a coveted industry job, despite our limping economy.

In an ongoing series of posts to the firm’s Inside EA blog (which is then syndicated across the Inside EA Twitter account), a punishingly witty employee dubbed “EArl,” tackles every conceivable facet of the hiring process.

From maximizing the chances you’ll be hired through low-level social engineering, to why even the most competent worker bees can be ignored if their application was dull as dirt, the currently 7-piece-long blog opus offers useful tips for anyone, regardless of skillset or industry experience. Plus, considering the success EA has seen over its past few decades in the gaming biz, one could argue they might know a thing or two on the subject of what makes for a quality codemonkey, audio engineer or PR wonk.

Even if you have no intention of tossing your name into EA’s voluminous purple fedora of applicants, we’d still recommend you at least bookmark these blog entries for later reference. Everything written there truly is timeless advice, especially valuable to those of you who recently shuffled away from the comforting womb of academia to face the horrors of reality as an adult.

Speaking of which, what the hell were you thinking?
